All logistics services providers integrated into SAP
Thanks to the solution made by EURO-LOG, it is possible to seamlessly and flexibly integrate external logistics providers into Continental’s SAP environment – via a single interface. The link-up of the logistics providers to the EDI clearing service functions within just a few days. Plus: the EDI clearing centre necessitated no investments in new technology either on the part of the principal or the forwarders. Technical adaptations were only necessary between the clearing house and the external services providers’ systems.The fastest route for forwarding data
In cooperation with Continental, EURO-LOG developed a simple and comprehensive solution within just a few short weeks. The freight space booking automatically generated by Continental’s SAP system is transmitted to EURO-LOG’s EDI clearing centre. Here, the information is translated from the SAP format into EDIFACT or another format and made available to the forwarder electronically in the required “language”.The status notifications generated by the logistics services provider or forwarder are also converted via the data platform and transmitted to the SAP system. Transport companies that are not EDI-enabled are connected to the distribution process via a web-based solution. The same interface is used for communication as with conventional EDI, making additional interfaces unnecessary.
The platform solution thus permits sustainable and stable communications between the ERP system and the connected forwarders. As well as rapid processes, it also above all ensures transparency, for example with respect to the status of freight space bookings or shipment deliveries.
