A good chemistry in distribution logistics
The customer order is for delivery of a batch of fine chemicals in three working days. Now the chemicals producer has to commission a logistics services provider to be at the right time at the right collection point. And not just any provider, but the best one for the job. Once the latter has collected the consignment and delivered it to the customer, the logistics provider must in turn forward the shipment data and status notifications on to the manufacturer. This entails complex communication processes involving a large number of data interfaces! Or doesn’t it? No… at least not for Clariant!
Like many companies, Clariant, too, draws on the services of a number of different forwarders. Although the majority of these services providers do in fact offer connection to their systems, due to the lack of a generally accepted standard, every company follows its own IT recipe.
Clariant generates its orders in its in-house SAP system and distributes them in automated form to its external services providers. To ensure the interaction runs without a hitch – also in the opposite direction – the chemical company took EURO-LOG on board as technology partner.
