Correlations in the flow of dataThanks to an
interface developed by EURO-LOG, the
flexible integration of external logistics providers into Clariant’s SAP system is no problem – without necessitating additional investments in hardware or software. The order data and forwarding orders are generated automatically in Clariant’s ERP system and dispatched. For this, the master data of the various partners and the transport criteria are stored in the SAP module, allowing the orders to be assigned to the appropriate forwarder without further action. Data transfer is carried out via EURO-LOG’s EDI clearing service fully independently of the system of the assigned services provider. Here, the data are converted into the data format used by the respective services provider. The shipment data, status notifications and proofs of delivery from the transport process flow in paperless form via the same route back to Clariant’s SAP system. Like this, it is ensured that the
order data and likewise the shipment information are available there in real time.
Stable connection for the future
The solution developed by EURO-LOG permits sustainable and stable communications between the SAP system and the systems of the connected forwarders. “After only 8 weeks’ real-time operation we noticed a streamlining of order processing,” claims Dr Letzelter from Clariant. “And thanks to improved delivery punctuality and transparency, customer satisfaction was also up.” The
technical link-up of new services providers and the maintenance of existing connections is assumed entirely by EURO-LOG and ties up no resources. Gaps between the IT systems are seamlessly closed and sources of error minimized. For the integration of the external forwarder systems, all that’s needed is to make some adaptations between the EDI clearing centre and the system of the logistics company. Partners with no system of their own are also quickly and cost-effectively integrated by EURO-LOG into the automated transport of goods via the Internet and corresponding entry masks.
