Consolidating strengths with EURO-LOG

The concept of target region consolidation was developed in order to concentrate resources and lower costs in automotive procurement and distribution logistics. In this, regional forwarders assume the task of collecting spare parts from different production sites, consolidating them and delivering them to the individual dealers. The demand-oriented collection and delivery is effected centrally via a single logistics company. The information technology in the background plays a decisive role in this. The medium-sized logistics company W+K draws on the IT know-how of EURO-LOG.
Located in Steinbach am Taunus, the logistics provider effects the Germany-wide supply of spare parts from the ramp to the authorized dealer for a major car manufacturer. To this end, a “shuttle truck” operates continuously between the plant and the distribution warehouse. At the incoming goods point, the deliveries are positioned in the respective route sections, picked, consolidated into consignments and delivered overnight to the distribution centres, so that the consignee has them punctually the next day.

True to the motto “You do the transporting, we’ll look after the IT”, EURO-LOG has developed a system solution that meets the pragmatic requirements of a regional forwarder. The solution was implemented within just a few short weeks. Although when first set up, the automated handling of transport operations involves greater complexity of organizational and structural processes, in the long run, however, it brings the medium-sized logistics provider a decisive competitive edge in the “tough” automotive market. What’s more, thanks to the low investment and decreasing total transport costs, the system pays for itself double-quick time!
