IT connects shipments
The hub of the implemented solution is the link-up of the various IT systems of the individual forwarding companies to EURO-LOG’s EDI clearing centre. This is where the
secure data interchange with all logistics partners as well as conversion into the required EDI formats is effected. Finally, the shipment and flow data from the cooperation network are also fed into this EURO-LOG-hosted data pool. With minimum complexity, GS Frachtlogistik thus realized an integrated database encompassing all shipments – based on the model of major European logistics services providers.
Four qualifying modules
On the basis of this integrated data pool, the EURO-LOG
hall scanning module compares the target and actual data of incoming and outgoing shipment processes. Deviations or damaged shipments are automatically included in the unloading report, including retransfer to the respective forwarding partner. For this, GS Frachtlogistik works via EURO-LOG’s web-based entry mask, eliminating the need for any additional software.
Data pertaining to incoming consolidated freight are transmitted directly to the
graphical local transport scheduling – another module from EURO-LOG. Thanks to definable, automated pre-scheduling and the possibility to separately highlight shipment anomalies, GS Frachtlogistik saves a lot of time. Cartage notes are created at the push of a button and transmitted to the mobile scanners via WLAN and GPRS. Delivery results and data pertaining to delivery scanning flow into the system in real time and are immediately available for
Tracking & Tracing. Like this, the scheduling manager is able to answer queries directly, without having to change programs.
A third module from EURO-LOG allows GS Frachtlogistik to capture
electronic signatures during loading, collection or delivery scanning. This eliminates the need in the past for the complex scanning of cartage notes.
The
management information system made by EURO-LOG automatically notifies GS Frachtlogistik of all shipments that have not received a clear receipt from the delivery partner within 48 hours. In the event of delays, the logistics services provider immediately becomes proactive and informs the customer before a complaints procedure is even triggered. Thanks to the possibility to generate all manner of reports, such as delivery reports and volume/damage statistics, the logistics provider now impresses through proactive quality management.
IT generates time
The EURO-LOG modules demonstrably generated invaluable integration effects and transparency for GS Frachtlogistik. This in turn led to significant time savings. As a result,
today 30% more shipments can be processed with the same number of staff. There was considerable relief for scheduling. The integration of additional partners into the automated transport of goods is possible with very short lead times. Anticipatory information has enabled the logistics services provider to improve flexibility with a high level of customer retention.
