Handling groupage is cost-intensive in terms of personnel and truck capacity utilization and can only be automated to a limited extent. Nevertheless it is possible to optimize the organization of time-critical processes in groupage operations with the help of intelligent information technology. In order to realize the potential of modern logistics in the highly competitive market, the mid-market corporate network 24plus put its faith in the pragmatism of solutions made by EURO-LOG.As a logistics cooperation with 54 systems partners, 24plus is a Europe-wide network with a uniformly high quality and performance level. The cooperation network moves over six million groupage consignments every year. To ensure efficient communication between the depots and systems centre, all cooperating partners are integrated into a single data network. As far back as 1996, EURO-LOG was commissioned to organize the secure interchange and conversion of the logistics data of all partners via a single platform. For in the competitive groupage network market, rapid physical connections are not the only thing that counts; the prompt and effective exchange of information is also paramount. To align the quality and the performance of the cooperation network to European standards, additional requirements were made. Thus in 2004, 24plus implemented three additional EURO-LOG applications for the professional support of logistics processes on the basis of the communications platform – and all within just a few short weeks.
